Parent Council
PARENT COUNCIL
MEETING DETAILS
NEW DATE: WEDNESDAY 25 SEPTEMBER AT 6.30 PM
VENUE: THE MILL, MILLBURN ACADEMY
Our Parent Council aims to help parents/guardians/carers become more actively and effectively involved in their children's learning and school experience. It is recognised that parents play an important role both in supporting their own child's learning and in the life of their school.
The Parent Council has a formal constitution available to view here (Constitution) which is agreed with the Highland Council.
Our Parent Council:
provides a voice for parents, in our school and local authority, on issues that are important to you and your children
helps the school to understand how to involve parents most effectively in your child's learning and in the life of the school
supports the school, and headteacher, in developing strong home/school partnerships
supports school development and improvement, and encourages links with the wider community
captures the unique and varied skills, interests, knowledge and experience that parents can offer
A positive relationship between our school and the parent council is invaluable in supporting our young people to strive to be the best they can be. Matters relating to individual children or staff in the school are not discussed at Parent Council.
We meet approximately once a term, and all parents/guardians/carers are welcome to attend. Information about meetings will be shared on our Parent Council Facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=61561494891213).
The Annual General Meeting (AGM) is held during the first school term (June) when Office Bearers are elected/re-elected.
Meetings usually take place on a Wednesday at 6.30 pm in The Mill at the school.
