Subjects Studied:
S3-4 - Maths, English, German Geography, Music, Physics, Chemistry & LatinHigher - Maths, English, Music, Latin and ChemistryS6 - Modern Studies, advanced higher English and Music (I think).
Career:
I took a year off after high school. Mostly spent working in M&S and the kilt maker but also went to Nepal & taught English for 6 months. After that, I studied Sociology & Scottish Literature at Edinburgh University. By good luck I got interested in drug trafficking and was awarded a bursary for a masters and PhD - also on drug trafficking. I completed my PhD in the Sociology department at Edinburgh University. I got my first full time job in 2009 as a University Lecturer. In 2014, I published a book on drug trafficking which won the British Society of Criminology book prize. My advice to young people is to just be interested in everything, not just book learning. You never know where it might take you.
